Semarang – Biotechnology Study Program, Diponegoro University on Friday, October 14th, 2022 held a training event with the topic “Applications of Geospatial and Remote Sensing Technology in Environmental Studies”. In this event, the speakers were Prof. Magaly Koch from Boston University.
Prof Magaly explained that monitoring by applying geospatial applications and remote sensing technology using satellite data can be used for applications in the fields of health, water observation and land use.
The application of remote sensing technology in the field of Health is primarily to observe air quality. These applications include dust particle analysis, fire and air pollution as well as air quality forecasting. In the field of water, remote sensing applications can be used to monitor potential floods and droughts as well as weather observations. Applications of remote sensing technology to land use and ecology include land cover and change, the amount and condition of vegetation and the occurrence of fire.
Analysis of Environmental Quality (physical) is done by Remote Sensing Technology integrated with geographic information systems, which produces an information about the quality of the environment.
This event took place smoothly and enthusiastically followed by the participants until the end of the event.
