Semarang – On May 23-26, 2023, biotechnology students of the 2020 batch carried out Field Work Lecture (KKL) activities at PT Bio Farma and The Vegetable Research Institute.
Bio farma itself is one of the SOEs domiciled in Bandung which produces vaccines, antisera and other biological products (Life Science) which was established by the Dutch colonial government on August 6, 1890 in Jakarta under the name Parc-vaccinogène which means state Vaccine Development Institution.
Meanwhile, The Vegetable Research Institute (BALITSA) is one of the technical implementation units (UPT) of the Agricultural Research and Development Agency located in Lembang, West Bandung. The main focus of its activities is Plant Breeding, pests and diseases, socioeconomics, and Technology of agricultural products.
In this visit, students were introduced to the application of Biotechnology in the field of Pharmacy and agriculture. The enthusiasm of the students is expected to provide motivation to engage in these fields. So that in the future, they can contribute actively in efforts to promote strategic sectors such as pharmaceuticals and agriculture through the implementation of Biotechnology in Indonesia.
