Tasrari Qolbi Nur Kholis, a student of the Biotechnology Study Program at Diponegoro University (Undip), successfully presented his research at the International Conference on Food and Agricultural Sciences (ICFAS) 2025, held from August 26 to 28, 2025. At this prestigious event, Tasrari also achieved a remarkable accomplishment by earning the 3rd Best Student Presentation Award.
ICFAS 2025 is an international conference that serves as a platform for sharing knowledge, experiences, and innovations in the fields of food, biotechnology, and agricultural sciences. The event brought together researchers, academics, and practitioners from around the world, providing young scientists with the opportunity to broaden their perspectives and build global research networks.
At the conference, Tasrari presented his research entitled “Screening of Alkali-Tolerant Lactic Acid Bacteria from the Mangunharjo Mangrove Ecosystem, Semarang for Functional Food Production.” The study explores alkali-tolerant lactic acid bacteria isolated from the Mangunharjo mangrove ecosystem in Semarang as potential probiotic candidates for functional food production. The findings highlight that mangrove ecosystems hold significant potential as a source of beneficial microorganisms to support the development of healthy and sustainable food products.
Tasrari shared that this was his first experience participating in and presenting at an international conference.
“I am truly proud and grateful to represent the Biotechnology Study Program of Diponegoro University on an international stage. Receiving the 3rd Best Student Presentation Award is a very meaningful achievement for me. I also gained valuable insights and constructive feedback from experts that will help improve my research in the future. My gratitude also goes to the entire research team who supported the preparation leading up to this conference,” said Tasrari.
The participation and achievements of Biotechnology students at ICFAS 2025 reflect Undip’s strong commitment to supporting research that harnesses local potential while maintaining a global outlook. Tasrari’s participation at ICFAS 2025 was supported by the World Class University (WCU) program funded by Universitas Diponegoro. Through this study, Tasrari hopes that the utilization of mangrove ecosystems will open new opportunities for innovation in creating value-added food products while also contributing to environmental sustainability.
