Jakarta – Students of the Biotechnology Study Program, Diponegoro University, once again achieved an outstanding accomplishment on the international stage. The AEROCAP Team won a Silver Medal at the Indonesia Inventors Day 2025, under the World Innovation and Technology Expo (WINTEX) category, held on September 10–14, 2025, at SMESCO, Jakarta.
The AEROCAP Team consists of Vangga Deswanto Prasetyo Kurniantoro as the team leader, with members Adeline Hartono, Azka Emo, and Danendra Daryl Abhinaya, under the supervision of Irfan Anwar Fauzan, S.Si., M.Si. In addition to receiving the silver medal, the team was also selected as one of the Top 10 Teams granted the opportunity to pitch their innovation with the INOTEK Foundation as part of an innovation commercialization program.
The innovation developed by AEROCAP falls under the category of Green Technology & Renewable Energy. It features a prototype of a microalgae-based Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) technology with an integrated CO₂ capture system. This technology provides an environmentally friendly solution for CO₂ emission capture while creating opportunities for its further utilization as renewable energy and economically valuable derivative products.
WINTEX is an international-level competition and exhibition that focuses on the development of inventions and technologies. It not only serves as a platform for presenting innovative prototypes or products but also provides participants with opportunities for incubation, funding, and commercialization potential. With assessment criteria covering the originality of ideas, project implementation, and market prospects, this event becomes a rich learning arena and a stepping stone for students to actively engage in the global innovation ecosystem.
This achievement demonstrates the ability of Diponegoro University Biotechnology students to compete on the international stage while supporting the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to clean energy and climate action. It also aligns with Diponegoro University’s commitment as a World Class University through the Student Go International program, fostering groundbreaking innovations and preparing students to face global challenges.
