This publication was published in the Journal of Tropical Biology on July 28, 2022. The title of the publication is the isolation and characterization of mold on furniture in a biological laboratory environment using the Contact Plate method.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2643 aligncenter \" src=\"https:\/\/biotek.fsm.undip.ac.id\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-08-13-at-08.39.12-3.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"676\" height=\"339\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The presence of molds in the environment around us can be beneficial or detrimental. Mold can be found in various places, including soil, air, plants, animals, water, and on material surfaces. One of the roles of\u00a0 mold\u00a0 is\u00a0 as\u00a0 a\u00a0 bio-degradator\u00a0 and\u00a0 biodeterioration\u00a0 agent\u00a0 on\u00a0 materials that are still used, so that it will cause harm to humans. This study aims to isolate and characterize the types of molds that exist on the surface of existing materials in the biology laboratory environment of Diponegoro University with the contact plate method. The method used in this research was to attach a contact plate containing PDA to various materials such as tables, chairs, cabinets,\u00a0 and\u00a0 so\u00a0 on,\u00a0 then\u00a0 observe\u00a0 the\u00a0 macroscopic\u00a0 and\u00a0 microscopic morphology.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The results showed that from the isolation process, ten isolates were obtained from various materials in the Biology Laboratory of Diponegoro University.
