This time, UNDIP welcomed <strong data-start=\"265\" data-end=\"298\">Prof. Ts. Dr. Chong Khim Phin<\/strong> from <strong data-start=\"304\" data-end=\"339\">Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS)<\/strong>, an expert in biotechnology and sustainable crop protection, as a <strong data-start=\"406\" data-end=\"428\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Visiting Professor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"433\" data-end=\"952\">The event, themed <strong data-start=\"451\" data-end=\"571\">\u201cHarnessing Biopesticides and Beneficial Microbes for Sustainable Crop Protection: Lessons from Oil Palm Ganoderma,\u201d<\/strong> was held online via <strong data-start=\"592\" data-end=\"600\">Zoom<\/strong> on <strong data-start=\"604\" data-end=\"633\">Thursday, October 2, 2025<\/strong>, from <strong data-start=\"640\" data-end=\"665\">2:30 to 4:30 PM (WIB)<\/strong>. The open lecture began with an opening speech by <strong data-start=\"716\" data-end=\"751\">Dr. Sri Pujiyanto, S.Si., M.Si.<\/strong>, Chairperson of the WCU Visiting Professor Program, and was moderated by <strong data-start=\"825\" data-end=\"861\">Irfan Anwar Fauzan, S.Si., M.Si.<\/strong>, lecturer at the Biotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, UNDIP.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"954\" data-end=\"1529\">During the scientific session, <strong data-start=\"985\" data-end=\"1000\">Prof. Chong<\/strong> presented various innovations in the use of <strong data-start=\"1045\" data-end=\"1086\">biopesticides and beneficial microbes<\/strong> as eco-friendly solutions for plant disease control, focusing particularly on <strong data-start=\"1165\" data-end=\"1189\">Basal Stem Rot (BSR)<\/strong> disease in oil palm caused by <em data-start=\"1220\" data-end=\"1241\">Ganoderma boninense<\/em>. He emphasized that combining diverse microbial strains, developing a deep understanding of pathogen\u2013environment interactions, and implementing integrated management of crops, pests, and diseases are key strategies toward <strong data-start=\"1464\" data-end=\"1492\">regenerative agriculture<\/strong> centered on soil and plant health.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1531\" data-end=\"2044\">Prof. Chong also shared his research findings on the effectiveness of several microbes, including <strong data-start=\"1629\" data-end=\"1669\">Trichoderma, Bacillus, Streptomyces,<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1674\" data-end=\"1689\">Pseudomonas<\/strong>, in suppressing <em data-start=\"1706\" data-end=\"1717\">Ganoderma<\/em> growth, as well as his innovation in developing the patented <strong data-start=\"1779\" data-end=\"1826\">eco-friendly fungicide formulation LesTani\u00ae<\/strong>, which has demonstrated strong efficacy in field trials.
