This activity was part of the <strong data-start=\"278\" data-end=\"342\">World Class University (WCU) \u2013 National Postdoctoral Program<\/strong> and was conducted <strong data-start=\"361\" data-end=\"371\">onsite<\/strong> on <strong data-start=\"375\" data-end=\"404\">Thursday, October 9, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"409\" data-end=\"1275\">Carrying the theme <strong data-start=\"428\" data-end=\"498\">\u201cApplication of KASP Genotyping Technology in SNP Identification,\u201d<\/strong> the workshop represented a synergistic collaboration between academia and industry, featuring two expert speakers: <strong data-start=\"614\" data-end=\"650\">Dr. M. Eka Prastya, S.Si., M.Si.<\/strong>, from the <strong data-start=\"661\" data-end=\"831\">Research Center for Natural Product Materials and Traditional Medicine, Bioactivity of Natural Products Research Group, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN)<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"837\" data-end=\"866\">Maria Swastika, M.Biomed.<\/strong>, representing the industry partner <strong data-start=\"902\" data-end=\"918\">Sciencewerke<\/strong>. The workshop aimed to enhance participants\u2019 competencies in <strong data-start=\"980\" data-end=\"1020\">Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP)<\/strong>-based genetic analysis efficiently. The event comprised a <strong data-start=\"1079\" data-end=\"1102\">theoretical session<\/strong> held in Room 402, 4th Floor, Acintya Prasada Building, and a <strong data-start=\"1164\" data-end=\"1194\">hands-on practical session<\/strong> in the Biotechnology Laboratory, Department of Biology, Diponegoro University.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1277\" data-end=\"1966\">The workshop opened with welcoming remarks from <strong data-start=\"1325\" data-end=\"1360\">Dr. Sri Pujiyanto, S.Si., M.Si.<\/strong>, Head of the Undergraduate Biotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, UNDIP, and Chair of the WCU National Postdoctoral Program. In his remarks, he emphasized that this workshop represents UNDIP\u2019s strong commitment to <strong data-start=\"1601\" data-end=\"1650\">strengthening the national research ecosystem<\/strong>, particularly in the field of biotechnology, through <strong data-start=\"1704\" data-end=\"1773\">knowledge transfer and mastery of the latest genomic technologies<\/strong>. He also highlighted that improving understanding and application of <strong data-start=\"1843\" data-end=\"1862\">KASP Genotyping<\/strong> aims to ensure its sustainable implementation in academic and research activities within the program.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1277\" data-end=\"1966\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4963\" src=\"https:\/\/biotek.fsm.undip.ac.id\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-10-09-at-16.53.29_1dc7b306.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1200\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1968\" data-end=\"2530\">The workshop was attended by members of the academic community, including lecturers, laboratory staff, and biotechnology students. The first scientific session, delivered by <strong data-start=\"2142\" data-end=\"2164\">Dr. M. Eka Prastya<\/strong>, discussed the advantages and applications of <strong data-start=\"2211\" data-end=\"2264\">KASP (Kompetitive Allele-Specific PCR) Genotyping<\/strong> from the perspective of an academic and researcher. He explained that KASP is a <strong data-start=\"2345\" data-end=\"2379\">PCR-based genotyping technique<\/strong> that has become revolutionary due to its <strong data-start=\"2421\" data-end=\"2468\">low cost, high accuracy, and rapid analysis<\/strong>, making it suitable for <strong data-start=\"2493\" data-end=\"2527\">high-throughput SNP genotyping<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2532\" data-end=\"2951\">The second session, presented by <strong data-start=\"2565\" data-end=\"2594\">Maria Swastika, M.Biomed.<\/strong> from Sciencewerke, highlighted the use of KASP technology in <strong data-start=\"2656\" data-end=\"2673\">crop breeding<\/strong> and compared it with other genotyping platforms. She emphasized the importance of adopting this technology to address <strong data-start=\"2792\" data-end=\"2813\">global challenges<\/strong> such as increasing food demand, developing <strong data-start=\"2857\" data-end=\"2878\">disease-resistant<\/strong> crop varieties, and creating <strong data-start=\"2908\" data-end=\"2925\">climate-smart<\/strong> agricultural solutions.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2953\" data-end=\"3449\">To strengthen participants\u2019 technical understanding and practical skills, the workshop included a <strong data-start=\"3051\" data-end=\"3082\">hands-on laboratory session<\/strong> at the Biotechnology Laboratory, FSM UNDIP. Participants \u2014 comprising lecturers, laboratory assistants, and students \u2014 received direct training on <strong data-start=\"3230\" data-end=\"3265\">DNA extraction and SNP analysis<\/strong> under the guidance of the Sciencewerke expert team. The session concluded with a <strong data-start=\"3347\" data-end=\"3381\">data interpretation discussion<\/strong>, deepening participants\u2019 abilities to analyze genotyping results.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3451\" data-end=\"3900\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The workshop officially concluded with closing remarks by <strong data-start=\"3509\" data-end=\"3537\">Dr. Sri Pujiyanto, M.Si.<\/strong>, followed by a <strong data-start=\"3553\" data-end=\"3568\">group photo<\/strong> with all participants and speakers.
